IMAP and POP3 are two different ways in which your e-mail program works with the mailbox on the server. IMAP: Your emails remain stored on the server. Your program only displays one copy and all actions (read, delete, move) are synchronized with the server - regardless of whether you are working on your cell phone, laptop or PC. This is ideal if you want to use your mailbox on several devices. POP3: Your emails are usually downloaded from the server to a device. They are then often deleted on the server or only kept there for a limited time. Changes are not synchronized with other devices, so POP3 is more suitable if you mainly use your emails on one device. If you want to use your e-mails on several devices at the same time, IMAP is usually the better choice.

This information applies to e-mail inboxes.
If possible, always use an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS).

  • Username: Your full e-mail address (e.g. )
  • Password: The password of your e-mail inbox
  • Encryption: SSL/TLS
Incoming mail server - IMAP
  • Server: sslin.de
  • Port (SSL/TLS): 993
  • Protocol: IMAP
Incoming mail server - POP3
  • Server: sslin.de
  • Port (SSL/TLS): 995
  • Protocol: POP3

Setting up a Hosted Exchange mailbox (LimesGroup)

Please use the following server name for our Hosted Exchange mailboxes: https://exchange2013-mailbox.eu/.

Manual setup in Microsoft Outlook
  1. In Outlook: File > Account settings > Account settings > New.
  2. Select Manual configuration or additional server types and then Microsoft Exchange.
  3. Enter the server:
    • exchange2013-mailbox.eu
  4. Enter your full Exchange e-mail address as the user name (e.g. ).
  5. Activate the option for a secure connection (SSL/TLS) if the program offers this.
  6. Save the settings and restart Outlook if necessary.

You can also use your Exchange mailbox directly in the browser via the web interface:
Outlook Web App (Webmail): https://exchange2013-mailbox.eu/

Note in case of problems with the Exchange setup (Autodiscover)

Outlook tries to connect to Microsoft 365 automatically by default. If your email domain is registered there, it may happen that Outlook keeps using the Microsoft cloud instead of our Exchange server exchange2013-mailbox.eu and the setup fails.

To circumvent this behavior, you can set two additional autodiscover entries in the Windows registry. This will instruct Outlook to ignore the Microsoft 365 autodiscover and use our server.

Step 1: Open the registry editor
  1. Close Outlook.
  2. Press Windows key + R, enter regedit and confirm with OK.
  3. If necessary, confirm the security prompt of the user account control.
Step 2: Navigate to the Autodiscover key

Navigate to the following path in the registry editor (example for Outlook 2016/2019/2021/Outlook Classic):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Autodiscover

Note: For older Outlook versions, the number 16.0 may differ (e.g. 15.0 for Outlook 2013).

Step 3: Create two entries
  1. In the right-hand area, right-click on a free space and select New > DWORD value (32-bit).
    Name: ExcludeExplicitO365Endpoint
Value: Double-click on the entry, enter 1 as the value and confirm with OK.
  2. Create a second DWORD value (32-bit).
    Name: ExcludeHttpsRootDomain
Value: Double-click on the entry, enter 1 as the value and confirm with OK.
Step 4: Restart Outlook

Close the registry editor and restart Outlook. Then set up your Hosted Exchange account again with the server exchange2013-mailbox.eu on. Outlook should now no longer try to connect to Microsoft 365, but use our Exchange server directly.

Important: Changes to the Windows registry should only be carried out by experienced users. Only carry out the steps if you feel confident or contact LimesGroup support.

Yes, you have the option of using the following webmailers:

For Hosted Exchange, please use Outlook Web Access:

Two webmailers are available for IMAP/POP3 mail accounts:

SEO-FAQ

How can search engine optimization and content structure help make your website easier to find and attract high-quality visitors?

My post is online - why don't I see it immediately on Google?

When you publish a post, Google doesn't even know it exists yet. Google must first visit your page ("crawl") and save it in its directory ("index") before the post can even appear in the search results.

How long does it take for Google to find a new post?

This varies greatly: it can take anywhere from a few hours to several days or weeks. For well-structured websites, it often only takes a few days for new content to appear in the index - but there is no guarantee.

Why is my post not directly at number 1?

First place is like the gold medal - and everyone wants it. Google compares your post with many other pages on the same topic and then decides which page is the most useful for searchers.

What criteria does Google use to evaluate my post?

Put simply, Google pays attention to, among other things:

  • How well does the content match the search query?
  • How helpful and understandable is the text?
  • How fast does the site load, especially on a cell phone?
  • How often is the page linked to by other websites (recommendations/backlinks)?

The better these points are fulfilled, the higher the chance of a good placement.

Does this mean that SEO is a one-time thing?

Unfortunately, no. SEO is more of an endurance run than a sprint. Even if a post is good, it can take months for its position to stabilize and for improvements to become visible.

Why are large pages (e.g. magazines) often in front of me?

Large websites have been known to Google for a long time, have a lot of content and many recommendations (backlinks). As a result, they enjoy more "trust" and come to the top more easily for many topics than smaller or new websites.

What can I do to improve my chances?

You can help by, among other things:

  • choose clear, concrete topics for each contribution,
  • use important search terms in the title and headings,
  • write comprehensibly and in sufficient detail,
  • Link your posts internally in a meaningful way,
  • Be patient and regularly deliver new, high-quality content.

Why does the position of my post keep changing?

The position of your post is not a fixed place, but more like a daily re-sorted results list. Google is constantly testing which pages work best for users - therefore your post may be higher up today and a little further down tomorrow.

In addition, Google does not show results in the same way for everyone:

  • The location plays a role (e.g. local results in the vicinity).
  • The user's language and settings influence the results.
  • Previous search queries and pages clicked on can lead to someone seeing a page higher or lower than others.

Therefore, it can happen that you see your post on page 1, while someone else finds it further down or even on page 2 - both still see "correct" results, just personalized.

For each new search query, Google decides which page of a website makes the most sense as an entry point - sometimes this is the individual article, sometimes the news or overview page. Canonical tags are just one signal among many and are not intended to "push away" overview pages.

Canonical tags are special references in the HTML code with which a website tells Google which URL should be considered the "original" or main version of a piece of content. For example, if an article appears both as a complete article and in excerpts on overview or archive pages, the canonical tag on the article URL can be used to specify that precisely this detail page should appear preferentially in the search result if Google finds matching content.

Why Google sometimes prefers overview pages

  • "Hub" function: News and category pages bundle several articles on one topic or time period. Google often interprets these pages as a better entry point for generic search queries, because users have more choice there.
  • Stronger signals: overview pages are usually linked more frequently (navigation, footer, internal links) and are therefore stronger in the internal link structure than individual articles. This can lead to Google perceiving them as more important target pages.
  • Testing user signals: Google continuously tests whether users are more satisfied with an overview page (more clicks, fewer bounces) than with a detail page - the ranking can therefore change dynamically .

Role of canonicals in the overall picture

Canonical tags tell Google: "If you find similar or similar content, this URL is the preferred version." They are intended for cases such as:

  • the same article can be accessed via several URLs (parameters, print view),
  • Filter/sorting variants in stores,
  • technical duplicates.

They are not intended to play off two page types with different content (overview vs. individual post) against each other. If the content is clearly different, Google can ignore an "artificial" canonical or, in case of doubt, remove the "wrong" page from the search.

What this means in practice

  • Each article gets a self-canonical - this is correct and helps to mark the detail page as main version.
  • The news or overview page retains its own canonical because it fulfills a different task (collection, entry).

How to direct Google to the article page without abusing Canonical

  • Clear differentiation of content: The overview page contains a short intro, teaser and links; the full text belongs exclusively on the article page. The less overlap, the clearer Google understands that the detail page is the content carrier.
  • Internal linking: In texts, teasers and call-to-actions, link directly to the article if it is about this specific topic - not to the general news page.
  • Clean meta data per page type: Articles: precise title and meta description for the specific content. News overview: generic title ("News ...") and description that makes it clear that it is a collection, not the actual specialist article.

In the overall picture, the following applies: Canonicals help to solve duplicates in a technically clean way and to bundle the signals on a preferred URL, but they do not replace the content-related and structural work of clearly showing Google which page is the "hub" and which page is the actual specialist article - which is why Google will continue to prefer the overview page in some cases, as long as it is perceived as a stronger entry .
